The 7th edition of the Big Pond trivia contestTo be held Wednesday evening July 15 2009 at 8 PM. Making a return appearance, the quizmaster will be Ed MacLellan. Ed vows that the questions this year will not be as esoteric as the batch he had for last summer’s contest. To help Ed out, we have set up a g-mail account so that people can contribute questions. The email address is: bptrivia09@gmail.com For those who have not partaken in the contest, here is a brief synopsis of the evening’s festivities. The contest is a pub quiz (popular in the British Isles) where the moderator reads out up to 50 questions and teams write down their best answers. This is all done quietly – don’t want to let your competitor get one over on you! To give the contest a Cape Breton twist, and to encourage audience participation, we intersperse the evening with 12 to 16 short-snapper questions. The first right answer wins back your entrance fee – a whopping $2.00! At the end of the evening, we determine the winning team by tallying the answers to see which team has the best trivial knowledge. The team with the most correct answers get all the glory – and bragging rights for the next year. So, for a cheap, fun and relaxed evening, gather yourself a team – could be your family, your neighbours, or just good friends – and come out to the Big Pond Community Hall. (Coordinating team shirts optional.) But don’t worry about having an organized team – last minute formations can produce some of the best teams!
